All I have to say about this post is that the topic chosen for discussion is one of the most challenging and is really very less talked about, I will help with some resources as well and I hope you will get enough information from the experts here. I will keep it concise and best to my knowledge. Please reply and post here if you really find this information helpful, also write about how you applied this, so that it can help other people as well.
Just a point of clarification on Silverlight - the platform isn't going anywhere http://dev.live.com/blogs/sls/archive/2009/10/18/505.aspx

What is being discontinued is a content delivery network "Silverlight Streaming". It is used by Silverlight to aid in demoing some of the WOW features that let image resolution change dynamically with the user zooming, panning, etc.

I am guessing that now that Silverlight has demonstrated its capability they decided that hosting a 10Gb CDN per user was not something to get for free. Azure is a great fit for this, albeit a pay service now. You don't need this in order to use Silverlight or it's streaming functionality. This is just a cloud / outsourcing service. Sorry John, I know how much you love the cloud.

Love all the shows!

Another great show guys. Thanks for all the great discussions.

A note about the short-sighted decision by Microsoft to discontinue MS-Money: Many users of Money are left in the cold by Microsoft, especially those using it to track investments as Andrew alluded to. The conversion to Quicken is very messy at best. Leaving the entire market to Intuit means that that Quicken will languish since there is no competition. I don't understand MS's justification that financial institutions now "fill the need for this market."

Witness that the normal release time frame for Quicken (August) slipped to October this year after MS announced the discontinuance. And the Quicken Help appendix lists four, count 'em four, (underwhelming) enhancements to Quicken 2010. At $99 for the Home and Business edition, this is (another) worthless upgrade.

When Quicken in it's 2010 edition still cannot match a manually entered transaction with one downloaded from the financial institution where the date, payee and amount match perfectly, something is definitely wrong.

Finally, Quicken online is a joke since you can't manually enter non-financial institution transactions, so you can't do away with the desktop product. I can't wait to see how they ruin Mint.com
